It’s that time of the month! On 20th of February, the sixth WBCEH members meeting will happen from 10:00-11:00am.
Agenda
1. WBCEH updates
As always, we will start the meeting with updates from the Hub – what has happened since the last meeting and what we are currently working on.
2. Members Spotlight – Ivana Koleva, PhD student at the Faculty of Economics in Skopje
In this 20-minute session, WBCEH member Ivana Koleva will present key topics from her research, focused on how our region can bridge the gap between global climate goals and local economic reality. More specifically, she will cover:
- Global Frameworks: From the Montreal Protocol to the Paris Agreement – why the Western Balkans must align now
- The Plastic Crisis: The 7 types of plastics, the hidden danger of microplastics, and why “Waste-to-Energy” can be a trap
- The Green Agenda: A 2020–2025 progress overview and the impact of the EU’s PPWR on regional trade
- Business Resilience: How reporting Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions is not just a compliance requirement, but a competitive advantage and opportunity for new jobs in the Western Balkans
- Innovation: Game-changers such as seaweed-based packaging (Notpla) and advanced scanning technologies
3. Mapping WBCEH members’ needs and resources with the Kumu tool
At the last members meeting, we officially launched this new service available exclusively to WBCEH members. Using the Kumu tool, we began mapping members’ resources, by-products, needs, and collaboration opportunities in a visual and accessible way. This meeting we will continue working on the mapping together with the present members.
4. Informal networking session
As always, the final part of the meeting will be dedicated to open networking, giving members the opportunity to introduce themselves, share their work, and exchange ideas.
