The Chamber of Economy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in partnership with the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro and the Regional Chamber of the Zlatibor District, has announced the upcoming two-day regional conference “WASTE – A RESOURCE for the Development of the Circular Economy.”The event will take place on 8–9 December 2025 at the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro, Novaka Miloševa 29/II, Podgorica.

The conference aims to bring together key actors from the public, private, and civil sectors engaged in the green transition, resource management, and the advancement of circular business models. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge, experiences, and ideas on improving waste management and fostering sustainable circular solutions across the region.

The event will focus on promoting the circular economy as a modern and sustainable development model — one that enables more efficient use of resources, extends product lifecycles, and significantly reduces the amount of waste generated. Through expert sessions and discussions, the conference will showcase good practices, innovative approaches, and current policy developments, with a particular emphasis on strengthening regional cooperation and aligning with European standards.

Key themes to be addressed include:

  • the status and challenges of the municipal sector in transitioning to more sustainable waste management

  • improving waste management systems and producer responsibility mechanisms

  • developing the circular economy through efficient use of secondary raw materials

  • packaging waste and new regulatory requirements in line with EU standards

  • e-waste: legal obligations and sustainable solutions

  • composting: regional practices, challenges, and opportunities

  • application of innovative technologies and artificial intelligence in the municipal sector
